Children's Picture Book

Kelly thought having a younger brother would be like playing with one of her dolls. But she didn't
expect mommy and daddy to stop loving her. Ever since the mommy came home from the hospital with
the baby, everything has changed for Kelly. Now she's expected to tie her own shoes, and share
everyone with the baby. Then Kelly learns that having a baby brother can be fun.
As a professional in a child care, parents frequently ask me for book recommendations,
especially when they are expecting their second child. Bringing a new baby home holds
special challenges for young children who were previously the only child in the household.
And while I've had the pleasure of encountering a number of excellent books on this subject,
none have been so terrific as KELLY'S BABY BROTHER.
Most children's e-books are very much like the books purchased in the book store. KELLY'S BABY
BROTHER uniquely utilizes strengths of eBooks to actively involve young readers in the story,
providing lots of opportunities to click for extra pictures. Indeed, children love pictures of other children, making KELLY'S BABY BROTHER especially easy to identify with. The use of photographs that perfectly depict the frustrations and joys of bringing home a new baby, as well as the wonderfully told
story, combine for a dynamic reading experience. KELLY'S BABY BROTHER earns the
WordWeaving Award for Excellence.

"... Ms. Toews has written a wonderful story from the older sibling's point of
view and Ms. Falk's great photographs bring the story to life. "Kelly's
Baby Brother" addresses many feelings and concerns that most older siblings
experience when there is a new baby in the house. Highly recommended for
parents and children to read together. This ebook is also a good tool to
help children with word and color recognition. (Ages 4-8)"

... Writer Toews has produced a marvelous book detailing the problems young children
often face when they are presented with a new sibling. The photographs of Kelly and her
family are a delight. This is a read to book for the younger set. Kelly and her struggle
to understand what has happened to her family since that new baby has arrived is one
that parents will understand, and little ones will enjoy since so many of them will
have the same concerns for the very reason as does Kelly. The book provides lots of
opportunity for children and parent to chat about their fears and delights over their own new sibling.
This is a well thought out work sure to please parents who may be looking for something to
help them assuage the new baby jitters in their own 'big girl or boy.' ...

... KELLY'S BABY BROTHER is a wonderful book to read to young children, especially if they have a
baby on the way or if they have one currently living with them. This book lets small children see
how Kelly feels and it describes perfectly how little ones can exaggerate every day happenings.
Toews's writing is easy to read and easy to follow. Children with a baby brother or baby sister
will be able to relate to Kelly and hopefully learn that their mommy and daddy have plenty of
love to give to each of their children.
Because that this book is an electronic computer book, it will work well as a teaching tool for
word recognition and early childhood computer skills. All they have to do is click on the large
buttons and text links at the end of each page.
KELLY'S BABY BROTHER is a must have and it comes highly recommended by this mother of three/reviewer. Bravo!

Author Rita Y. Toews expertly captures the emotions of a young child struggling to adjust to life
after a new baby comes into their life. Young children will be captivated by the photos in
Kelly's Baby Brother while at the same time learning to come to terms with their new roles.
Kelly's Baby Brother also serves as gentle reminder to parents to involve their older
children in caring for the new baby so they won't feel left out.
Highly recommended.
